It disobeys the command that the husband cherish his wife – Colossians 3:19, Ephesians 5:25-31, 1 Peter 3:7
It destroys the complementarian view of marriage
It demisses the biblical instruction about the tongue – Psalm 12:5, 18:21, James 3:6, 9
It disregards the ‘one anothers’
It demonstrates behaviour similar to unbelievers – 2 Timothy 3:1-5 - What is the proper response to marital abuse?
A. For the abuser
. 1. Help them to realize they are caught in a sinful behavior – Galatians 6:1
. 2. Help them to come to conviction – Proverbs 28:13, Psalm 51:4, 2 Corinthians 7:9-10
. 3. Help this person change
B. For the abused
. 1. We will listen
. 2. Try to help you understand it is not your fault
. 3. Help you become an overcomer
