Three reminders of our new life in Christ
. 1. Remember your identity – vs. 9
. . The believers Peter was addressing were
. . . Facing persecution – 4:12, 5:8, 1:6
. . . Battling sin – 2:11, 2:1
. . But, you
. . . Are a chosen race that He graciously rescued – Deuteronomy 7:6-11
. . . Are a royal priesthood that has responsibility and priviledge because we are attached to Christ the King
. . . Are in service to the King and set apart to live for Him, a people exclusively for His own possession – Deuteronomy 14:2, Isaiah 43:21, 1 Corinthians 6:20
. 2. Remember your calling – vs. 9
. . To show off the Lord – 2:5
. . To proclaim His excellencies; the character of God is seen in salvation – Colossians 1:13, Ephesians 5:8
. 3. Remember your testimony – vs. 10
. . You have been forgiven
. . God never wastes suffering
